LESSON LEARNED: Buy tickets to the Eiffel Tower as soon as you know what day you'll be in Paris. You can always stay in line without a reservation, but this can take 2-3 hours just to get tickets. Don't waste valuable time in Paris in line!

The quarter round stairs made the perfect spot for a group photo after breakfast.
A short drive away, we visited Guedelon. This is a medieval castle being built today using historic methods. The stone is excavated on site, milled, and all tools used are authentic from the original time that this type of structure was originally built. The construction is completed by volunteers and has been going for several years. Volunteers must be at least 16 and have a minimum volunteer time - our kids calculated that the project will still be going by the time they both meet the volunteer age requirements! Our guide at Guedelon was very informative and engaging. I believe this was Dylan's favorite parts of the trip! Our country hotel in Burgundy sent us off with delicious packed lunches that we enjoyed at Guedelon before our final drive with Paul to Paris.
DAILY TOUR ADVANTAGE: BLOCKBUSTER SITES
We checked into our hotel in Paris which was again centrally located and comfortable. It was just a short walk to Rue Cler and the Eiffel Tower. We walked to the Eiffel Tower before a group tour of the Louve Museum at night. The lessons learned in the morning about castle building came in very handy at the Louvre because it was originally a castle. Our museum experience was again enhanced by a city guide and we were spoiled with dinner on Rue Cler, just a short walk from the hotel. Check out the video view of the Eiffel Tower from our hotel room! The entire tower sparkles at the top of the hour at night!
