DAY 14: AU REVIOR, THE TOUR ENDS. EXTRA TIME NEAR PARIS.
The main gate at Versailles
After breakfast, the tour ended. We stayed an extra day in Paris and just couldn't leave the area without visiting both Versailles and Giverny.
We were lucky enough to see Versailles on a fountain weekend where the gardens were alive with flowing water. Everything we read about the crowds and pushy tourists was 100% true at Versailles. We took a break in the Palace and hid from the crowds with the richest hot chocolate and most beautiful pastries in the Angelina's.
After growing waterlilies for more than a dozen years, Giverny has been at the top of our garden tour list. The land gardens were as beautiful as the water gardens.
This was our first vacation lasting more than 10 days. It was action packed and seemed to go so fast. While we saw so much, we still have so much more to see and experience in Europe. As expected, this turned out to be a wonderful introduction of Europe for our family! Thank you to Rick Steves' Europe Tours for the breathtaking and educational vacation of a lifetime!
